The Parker 17 fountain pen is one of the cheaper and very accessible fountain pens from the Parker range in the 1950s and 1960s. It was released with a couple of different nib types with the earlier pens sporting the Duofold nib style and the later pens using the hooded nib that was used on the Parker 51.
You will find that the Parker 17 or Lady 17 fountain pen is available at significantly different prices and it is definitely possible to pick them up for under $10.

The Parker 17 Lady fountain pen was not manufactured using high quality materials with the barrel made of injection molded plastic and it tended to be prone to being easily scratched. The shape of the pen is very similar to the Parker 61 fountain pen although the position of the clutch ring is positioned differently.
This is a relatively lightweight fountain pen, particularly when compared to other Parker fountain pens that were released around the same time. The pen is an aerometric filler but it is obviously an example of one of the cheaper Parker pens when you inspect the components of the filling system.
The Parker 17 fountain pen is the type of pen you might want to buy as an introduction to the world of fountain pens. It is not exactly the best example of a smooth writing pen but it is inexpensive and will introduce you to the Parker aerometric filling system. It is comfortable to hold but the nib tends to lay down a line that is particularly wet and it can tend to get scratchy.
