The nib of the Super 21 is made from an alloy known as Octanium (an alloy consisting of eight metals) and while it differs to the gold nib of the 51 it is still quite a smooth nib to use. Some prefer the onctanium nib to the gold of the 51, it comes down to a matter of taste, and it is the type of pen that you will be happy to use on a daily basis. The clip of the Super 21 is another distinctive aspect that compares to the original 21 with the arrow imprinted onto a flat blade shape.
The brushed metal cap gives the pen a more formal appearance and combines nicely with the clutch ring. It is available in a number of additional colors to the original 21 providing you with options such as blue, turquoise, green, red, black, grey.
Anyone who loves the intricacies surrounding the history of fountain pens and the order in which they were released will appreciate that the Super 21, when compared with the original 21 and the more famous 51 has a distinguished past. The subtle changes in the nibs, filler systems, clutch ring and cap as well as the materials used to make them provides the collector with a diverse range of variations to look out for.
