The Wahl-Eversharp name has been one of the most well regarded names in the writing instrument industry since the early 1900s. The company that came to life with the merger of the Eversharp pencil brand and the Wahl fountain pen brand in 1918.
One of the pen models that helped elevate Wahl-Eversharp to the top of the industry was the Skyline fountain pen of the 1940s. In fact the Skyline is still considered to be one of the best examples of fountain pen design and collectors continue to search for these classics.
Due to the popularity of the ballpoint pen, production of Wahl-Eversharp fountain pens ceased many years ago, much to the disappointment of those who appreciated the quality of the company’s products.
In more recent times the company has been overhauled and revived as a direct to customer internet only enterprise. A new range of products have been introduced based on the popular pens from the past and the same attention to detail in quality and appearance has been maintained.
This, then, makes the recent introduction of a new line of fountain pens an exciting prospect. The Skyliner 50 fountain pen line was unveiled at the Los Angeles International Pen Show between 14 - 18 February 2013. According to Wahl-Eversharp the new line of pens “is inspired by and offered as our view of the logical carry-forward of the 1940s Skyline Pens had they carried on into the next decade. The pens feature cool colors popular in the 1950s and reminiscent of the colors found on iconic 50’s automobiles.”
The Skyliner 50s collection of pens is available in a choice of 3 different colors. Choose from Speed Red, Bahamas Blue or Menthol Green which have been displayed below.
The Skyliner series of fountain pens is the first of a number of collections that are going to be released by the company as it effects its re-emergence as a producer of quality fountain pens for the modern writer.
